Service Awards
In keeping with the traditions of Soroptimist International of the Americas, our Tri-Valley Club (Pleasanton, Dublin, Livermore) proudly sponsors the following annual awards:
Dream It Be It - honors young women in secondary school who face obstacles to their future success. It provides girls with access to professional role models, career education and the resources to live their dreams. For additional information, click here
Live Your Dream - first established in 1972, this award provides financial assistance to women, entering or re-entering the workforce, to help off-set the cost of obtaining education and skills training needed to improve their employment status. Women's Opportunity Awards (WOA) are designed to give women heads of household, who provide the primary source of financial support for their families, the opportunity to achieve their career goals—an opportunity they have not previously had, whether because of economic or social barriers, or personal circumstances. The Dale Vaughn-Bowen Memorial Award - first awarded on June 22, 2011, this scholarship award was named in honor of fellow Soroptimist and club member, Dale Vaughn-Bowen, a Pleasanton resident. Dale lost her battle to cancer in March, 2010. Her service and dedication to her community and to Soroptimist International is memorialized through this annual gift to a deserving student who has lost a parent to cancer. Dale's tireless work to fundraise for cancer causes continued until the end of her life and is now continued by her teenage daughter, Morgan. Through this award, we honor Dale's 25+ years of Soroptimist service, her spirit and the ability to keep her spirit alive.
The Women of Distinction Award - this award recognizes a Dublin, Pleasanton or Livermore resident who is seen as a role model for community responsibility. A woman who exemplifies high ethical personal standards and has made long lasting and noteworthy contributions locally.
The Best for Community Award - First presented in 2013, this new award allows local companies to nominate from their employee population, a community-oriented champion whose dedication is an inspiration to those they work with. Nominations are accepted starting each December. Our first award recipient was Safeway Corporation's, Denise Harper.
